A review of “Freedom is a Constant Struggle: Ferguson, Palestine, and the Foundations of a Movement” by Angela Y. Davis (2016)
I’m unfortunately not a big reader. Don’t get me wrong, I want to read more, but my brain fights me tooth and nail. When I learned that the midterm assignment for my Fall 2024 class, SPCN-V532: Social Equity & Justice, I was in panic mode. I have a bunch of books that I bought with the intention of reading sometime, and after getting approval to use one of the books I had, there was no going back. This class was really important on multiple levels. Being able to knock out a book I own was number one, but learning that I could listen to the eAudiobook while following along in my physical book was, dare I say it, a game-changer. The issues I normally have with staying engaged in the book just disappeared. I bumped up Ms. Davis’s narration to 1.3x speed, and finished that book in two days. Lastly, being able to write about something that was interesting to me felt important … as if it was something I needed. And for context, I got a 100% on this paper, and a 99.25% for the entire course.
